Reddit Cruisers Easy to Pick Up Girls

Anyways, as a follow up to my polls back in the summer about the best DD's and best coal and steel ships, I sent out a poll amongst top clans in both NA and EU asking for users to select the best cruisers. I did expand it a bit and allowed them to pick 7 in each tier of which only 4 could be premiums. So without further ado, here it is. This is from 156 responses to the poll.

Tier 5

A lot of users were uncomfortable with the lower tiers but I don't think there are any surprises whatsoever in this data. Furutaka and Konigsberg have always been solid ships at the tier ad Kirov, Bertin and Exeter are solid ships in their own right. Perhaps surprisingly to some people, all 3 Omaha's cracked the top 10 despite its abysmal reputation. I would be curious how a single Omaha class would fare in this poll, if people selecting the other 2 would select the one remaining.

Tier 6

Players unfortunately had way too much experience in this tier and there were scattered reports of PTSD incidents as people filled out this portion of the poll. Pensacola and Graf Spee were neck and neck, and Huang He and Perth rolled in (Ha, get it?) to the top 5 with Nurnberg surprisingly coming in at 4th. I am surprised how well the Nurnberg did compared to the Makarov, but this is likely a case of most players not being able to select Makarov after selecting other more obvious premiums.

Tier 7

If you weren't expecting Belfast at the top of this list, get out, you don't deserve any of this data. :D I don't think there are any surprises here at all. Fiji is easily one of the best tech tree ships in the game tier for tier and Atlanta is still solid and fun. Myoko has maintained itself despite years of alleged power creep to OG ships. I am surprised at the premium Myoko's being so far down the list, the ability to run any captain in them without training made me think it would be higher, considering how high tech tree Myoko was and its not like T7 is littered with OP premiums other than Belfast.

Tier 8

An absolute monster of a tier, 30 ships in total, not counting copy paste duplicates. Mainz was strong since its release and is lots of fun, no surprise at it taking top spot. American radar neck and neck for 2nd and 3rd. Sister ships Kutuzov and Chappy round out the top 5. Og premium ship Atago still a favorite despite the years of power creep. Tied with Gibraltar for fewest votes overall is Wukong.

Tier 9

I would have never guessed that Alaska would get more votes than Belfast, but here we are. People really like their radar at T9, with 5 out of the top 6 having radar. Despite that, neither of the 2 American tech tree ships placed very high. Interesting note is that despite neither ship having extensive release time, Tulsa placed very high while Carnot is not well liked at all.

Tier 10

Really? Petro on top? You don't say. OG DM still rocking a near tie for top spot at T10. DM copycat Salem even comes in at 6. Autloading 203's might be a good feature.... Russian cruisers occupy 5 of the top 8 spots, no surprises there. Venezia, one of my favorite ships, coming in at 4th with a great combo of gimmicks that makes it extremely fun and competitive. The Rock of Gibraltar.... sunk, to the bottom.

Ok nd now we get into some of the more interesting analysis of this poll. This is aimed at newer players coming into the game wondering what lines they should grind. I took the lines all together and averaged them out to see what lines had the highest average picks. Across all the ships in this poll for each line:

It's hard to say whether the Petro helped that lines rating more than the Tallinn hurt it, but either way, its the top picked line, barely above the US heavy cruiser. Russian light cruisers placing very highly, surprise, surprise. Then after the UK light cruisers, there is very little separation between the next 4 lines with UK heavy cruisers and the new Dutch cruisers placing very low.

And then a little bit more focus on the high tiers and perhaps to offset poorer performing low tiers with high tier excellence, here is how each line fared when only averaging Tiers 8-10:

Here the Russian lines swap positions and the Italian cruiser line is extremely favored compared to the complete line average.
